Eating Disorder therapy includes the treatment of Anorexia Nervosa, ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), Binge Eating Disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Bulimia Nervosa, Disordered Eating, and Orthorexia.

You may benefit from eating disorder therapy if you’d like to experience a different relationship to food and/or your body.

I believe that our relationship with food and our bodies is inextricably linked to the culture and society we live in, one that is steeped in diet culture and anti-fat bias. I also believe that eating disorders, disordered eating, and body shame often have roots in trauma which makes trauma-informed therapy so important for treatment.

What is Disordered Eating?

Disordered eating describes a range of eating behaviors that may or may not meet the narrow criteria for formal eating disorder diagnoses. If you find that your relationship with food is impacting your daily life, you may struggle with disordered eating. Common experiences of disordered eating include preoccupation with weight or body size, chronic dieting, skipping or restricting meals or food groups, weight cycling, engaging in rigid food rituals and routines, feeling guilt or shame related to eating, and feeling overly preoccupied with food.

How Eating Disorder Treatment Can Help You

Recovery in our culture can feel so impossible. I want you to know that recovery is not only possible, it is liberating, and you deserve it.

I will never be the person to tell you what to do with your body. What I can do is walk alongside you on your journey towards healing your relationship with food, movement, and your body. My hope for all is that recovery opens space to live more fully and freely.

My Modalities for Treating Eating Disorders

As a trauma therapist, I approach all of my work through a trauma lens. We know that eating disorders, among many others symptoms, can be strategies developed as a response to trauma. Because of this, I prioritize trauma-informed treatment.

I am trained in evidence-based treatments for stabilization in eating disorder treatment: CBT (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). I also incorporate principles from Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size (HAES).

I previously worked in a higher level of care for eating disorder treatment and therefore have familiarity with different levels of care and can provide support for clients post-discharge from higher levels of care.

When it makes sense, and we’ve established enough stabilization, trauma work, such as EMDR, may be supportive.
